Damn and blast, or: weekend again

My plans to post twenty times thwarted by an intersecting of tetchy computer and actual required work-related activity lead to a mere fourteen (I think?) posts. Two lies in a day! Who was it that said "They'll believe any lie if it's big enough"? Hubert Humphrey? George Lucas?

Anyway, have a nice weekend. Gonna be roasting a pig, staying up all night Saturday...should lead to ace geeky bullshit for Monday.

Now...enjoy!

Hodge

Had you forgotten it's summer of Nabokov? Pretentious-y, yes!
Currently on the awesome and insane Pale Fire.

The intro epigraph is this:

This reminds me of the ludicrous account he gave Mr. Langton, of the despicable state of a young gentleman of good family."Sir, when I heard of him last, he was running about town shooting cats." And then in a sort of kindly reverie, he bethought himself of his own favorite cat and said "But Hodge shan't be shot: no, no Hodge shall not be shot."

JAMES BOSWELL, The Life of Samuel Johnson

Aside being a humdinger of a non-sequiter in light of VN's book (although it's likely not, I'm just too midwesternly peabrained to just nod sagely and chuckle), this is the BEST THING EVER. Moreover, Hodge is famous!

I mean, here is a statue of him!:

He even has his own wikipedia entry:

The start is the best: "Although there is little known about Hodge..."

Where is HIS bio? He may have liked fish, e.g.! And if he did, we want to read about it.

Jacques Prevert

A surrealist-era poet by trade, but I guess he did this crazy collage.

Send Danny Trejo and his blades to E 3rd St

Speaking of revenge, some drug-fiending fools broke in and robbed our fave mom and pop Mexican joint Taqueria Mixteca (affectionately known amongst my compadres as Mexihole) earlier this week, taking 250 bucks from the register. Such BULLSHIT! Those kids work their fingers to the bone making the best Mexican food in the contiguous US. Last thing they need is some skeevy East D_____ trash wrecking the joint to buy teh crackrocks.

As sure as I sit here, I will have my revenge, or at least some chorizo tacos for tomorrow for lunch, to try to alleviate some of the lost scratch. Damn!

For the good of ALL our people

Robert Rodriguez is making a full Machete movie. More crap for me to key to the annoyance of the Bride! Plus Lohan and Steven Seagal (rumor on the second). SICK!

Katie Lee Joel's ex's first band

Wow, this sort of fried my mind:

"We Didn't Start the Fire," maybe, but Mr Joel evidently DID start Dizzy Dean Davidson from Girlschool's haircut [r].

Nacho's sister

Here is Polo Ralph Lauren model and polo-playing gadabout Argentine Nacho Figuera's sister Mercedes, an NYC "jazz saxaphonist.":
