The view from MN

Aphex Twin Story

Well, there is talk that Aphex Twin is a 9/11 truther.  How surprising!  I'm more surprised/alarmed at the prospect that my favorite Aphex Twin story (that, when tasked to do a Lemonheads remix, he simply squashed the entire track and made a snare sound of it and turned that in) is, perhaps, apocryphal or even flat-out false.

RELEASE THE TRUTH!

I sorta want to check out the new Electric Wizard,

but, no - it occurred to me today that ALL the music I care about anymore (aged 68 and four months) is some pretty fucking wimpy stuff.  Whoot!

Food post 4

A chef friend gives me crap because the Bride and I tried to make Eggs in Hell (eggs cooked in a pan of spiced-up tomato sauce) a tradition, either having it on Christmas eve or night or I forget which.  He scoffed, perhaps at the simplicity of the prep involved.

One of the things I had hoped to get around to (besides recording a "sequenced" dance record as Wish Systems) during my stint of unemployment was the setting up and maintaining of eggsinhell.org, a site that would further the presence of the eggs in hell dish, globally (I got so far as to register the francophile domain name, oeufsenbas.fr).  Alas, further promoting of this amazing meal will be up to YOU, gentle reader.

And, of course, were time travel possible, the first (only) thing to do would be to go back to India whenever it was and find the folks behind the super-hot onion relish stuff and shake their hand(s).

THANK YOU!

Food post 2

YOUR precious Firehouse subs does have an impressive section on hot sauces of the world...even, er, this.  BRING ON HANK VI and HIS SUB-SKRILLEX WHISTLES AND BEEPS!

Food post 1

Do you have Firehouse Subs where you are?  You will.  Someone was raving about it, so I took the plunge and it was Quizno's, but for the shape.  Even their proprietary "hot" sauce was the same as Quizno's.  Things were shaped differently, but same steaming/toasting or whatever.  Plus it was eight bucks for an 8" sub and a drink, which was wild because the sub was about the dimensions of the gripping end of a Louisville slugger (description stolen from Harlan Ellison).  It tasted okay, but it was about four bites all told, and didn't even last through the entire Showcase Showdown.

What I really wanted to comment on, though, was the soda from one of those Coke machines that lets you make your own drank via Computer Science.  I, of course, went with grape Fanta.

It came sloshing out of the machine and it was black!  Or dark grey, maybe.  Like the water/baby-food jar after one has been doing a "wash" drawing in 8th grade art. Or the color one thinks of when someone mentions the Baltic.  I know that all sodas are infernal and are just Cancer in a Cup, but this was quite alarming!
