I'd still vote for whoever is running against this guy,

even if said opponent were to go: "Oh, btw, I'm a martian overlord in disguise, here to send you puny, poncey humans to toil white-hot bauxite mines until you die!"

And why? Not politics, surely.

NOPE:

"Takeover" is one word, asshole.
This was a banner on Drudge...maybe it's some mini-series on Showtime or something.

A friendly caution

Hey, Pete! People are much more tolerant of druggie/drunky hijinx when one is all young-Rimbaud hot. As you continue to oof out, expect judges and constables to be less and less friendly when they find you passed out in someone's Festiva with a charred thumb and some Old Speckled Hen 4-pack empties!

My brother loved this so much

that he called first thing to tell me about it. This is one of my older brothers, not my parents' cat DC. I liked it as well!

Stormy Thom, et al

So, yeah, I'm almost recovered from staying up all night Saturday helping tend to a cooking pig, or, more precisely, helping those doing the actual tending stay awake.

Along about 4am, our friend/mascot/fuzzy compatriot Thom arrived, tagless, but was quickly given his proper sobriquet du cookout. He ate some cheeseburgers and chilled. Who would let such a great dog run free? Grrr!

Well, it turned out he had run away, but the kindly Bob Evans manager who ended up taking him home to his fenced yard quickly received a call - Thom was microchipped! Also, on his 4th owners, because he has diabetes and requires constant care. Don't tell anyone he was given bratwurst and Orange Slice. Well, brats, anyway! Plus his real name is Stormy.

Here is the scene at sunup, when we all felt a bit like Martin Sheen in the hotel room in Saigon, but the triumphant rays of sun underscored our porcine victory!

Just heard Les Paul is dead

And that's too bad, though he was 94...but what sucks about is all the 54 y.o. dudes who hear it on the radio and then, coming home from work, will stop in at the local GuitarTrough, talk sadly about it with their fave sales dude Randy, say fuck it! and plunk down the AmEx and go home with a '64 Flametop copy (or whatever) and sit out in the garage with a Bud Light Lime and strum "Wish You Were Here." Instead of cutting the grass.

Griz update

My friends' cat from the courtyard of the bldg? Griselda, aka Griz? She will come all the way to the back door of their place, but will NOT cross the threshold!

Meanwhile, her would-be full-time dad made this for the band, on a budget of proceeds from a broken toaster and the selling of some liquid paper that was around management's office:

Overheard

"People sure are different in San Francisco."

"You're not an addict if you don't have a prescription, man."

"I just put it on 'shuttle' - is that what it's called? - and let it play."
