Do they practice it?

This guy is not actually doing the mentioned look-away, and I think this
was after a game; still, a very helpful visual

At half-time in basketball, when the coach is interviewed before going off to rouse the troops before the next half, there is always a split second where the coach looks away (usually to his left) at...something.  A lot of implied business.  Then he dashes off to coach.  I want to know whether these coaches practice that look.
