What the hell was Lum's?

Reading the July Food and Wine, some Best New Chef guy says his dad ran a Lum's which drove me crazy, because there was a Lum's until I was six or seven at our closet shopping center.  What the hell was this place?  I only remembered that they had "Hot Dogs Steamed in Beer" on their sign.  What?  Wikipedia says the chain owned Caesar's Palace...wha?
