Down at SPUG Farms

Well, I thought that I was going to have to come down with a (borrowed) power lawn mower and cut grass for four hours last week at the ol' South Park Urban Garden, but mind was blown instead to see that the CITY had come and cut down the tall, waving, lilting prairie grasses (?) and had even gone with string trimmers around the beds!  EPIC!  Need to get an email address and say thanks, send pizzas or maybe even 235 dollar pairs of polka dot shorts for all involved.

Went down Sunday morning en famille and puttered about:

Shit kept tight!

A lovely bed of (mostly) lettuces!

Neighborhood feline (Hecate?) catching a break

This tree is 150,000 years old!  Maybe!

Lovely peasant girl bending to plant.

Poor city child, surrounded by pretentious
ephemera.

Sex and death are one thing*,

but how will I explain to my first born son about the Bell Beefer?

* Yes, they are two separate things.  Yes.

Meat blunts

Speaking of White Owls, surely in the long course of human history someone has tried to make a blunt with a Slim Jim?

Might be something fun for you to try one night this summer, assuming you're not in some form of recovery program.

Someone make a Best of Jon Mills compilation DVD

[Ian and Kyle are smoking white grape cigarillos 10 feet away]

Jon Mills: "What's that smell?"

NE: "Oh, those idiots are smoking white grape cigars for no good reason..."

Jon Mills: "Whew, I thought I was having a stroke..."

Birthday

My birthday was just lovely, thanks!

The back and forth

Okay, a couple years ago, I said I thought Bruce Wagner was in my top 10 living writers.  But then I could not get through I'll Let You Go on numerous attempts, so I backed away from that claim.  Human!  Fallible.  I am all these things.

But now I have pencilled in dates for going to visit Gabe and Caitlin and these dovetail with the release of Bruce Wagner's latest opus.  So, I probably need to pre-order this for cheep from the Amazon, and take it along and read it on vacation. Right??

RIGHT???

Don't think I won't

SALAD ON THE GRILL!  This Saturday.

The Bride has seen a recipe in some work-trip magazine she bought, then the Times magazine last Sunday had a SICK recipe for steak with grilled Caesar salad.
