Obligatory day-late Gore Vidal post with a twist!

Yeah, Gore Vidal's dead, he made acerbic pronouncements, I've only read Duluth and Myra Breckenridge and tried to read Palimpsest a couple of times...okay.

What I wanted to say was that I was always a Capote guy as opposed to a Vidal guy, but the last time I read that Capote bio it suddenly clicked with me that Capote was pretty much a dick: liar, troublemaker, gossip and all the other drunk traits I can't fully bring myself to "tut-tut" at; having tacky relationships with gross people, and generally being a living signifier of the slide from the natty post-war to the proto-tabloid 70s and 80s.  Yikes!

So, yeah, Gore: rest in peace!
