Grizwatch

Well, we had a bit of a fright the other day when Griz suddenly had odd growths on her ear and nose which The Internet Declared To Be Cancer, of course.  And it wasn't, just some odd infection.  But, seriously, what could kill the Griz?

"Certainly not a Tholian web..."

FURMINATED!

Fur (left): could be shellacked and passed off as a stuffed trout
Check out all the hair Po got out of Griz in ten minutes.  Mind you, the fact that she is allowing herself to be touched at all retains MIRACLE STATUS!

Query for Griz

Hey, Griz!  What's the difference between a good photographer and a bad photographer?

Rowrl?

The size of his trashcan.

Griz the Touched

Saturday night, we received a text confirming that, after four years of entreaties then entrapment, a certain formerly feral Griselda "decided she wanted to be petted a dozen times like a normal fucking cat."

Astounding!

Herding cat (items)

1. Look at little Griz, being a lady, paws all a-crossed!

2. Smokey, one of the Cement Yard Five, is getting "mean."

3. Vinnie and a duo to be named later (literally) lap up the last of the cream from Solstice Strawberry Night, in front o' Kelley's.

Griz! Now back with quasi-psychedelic strobing effects!

Remember Griz, Po's cat who went from "feral street cat" to "well, I think I saw her out of hiding yesterday or maybe last week some time?"

Look at her now! She plays, hops, isn't entirely skittish -- and now, if this photo is any indication, had odd "psyche-" markings at various body places, as if being seen out of the peripheral vision of an acidhead at a 1968 Buffalo Springfield show in Tempe.

Rock on, little wanderer! [?]

Suck it, Cy

Here's that painting my dad did of Po's cat that has been sweeping the internet:

Grizwatch!

What about Griz, you have wondered...the feral city cat that, Gentle Ben-like, has been co-opted into a Chicago household? Well, sixteen months in, she actually will allow herself to be touched on occasion, such as a nose rub...and will actually sleep on the floor near humans. Not on the bed - no, no - but still! PROGRESS!

Griz!

Acclimating!

Griz - doped, yet sorta docile

Poor honey!
The Griz, in the last ten days, has had two teeth yanked, a whole battery of shots, blood work, nails trimmed, is on a medicine called "Mimulus" (which is a sort of cat Lexapro in brandy suspension, but is also an ace name for a Gary Numan tribute act), two week anti-biotic treatment.
Still, whether because of being thorazined the frig out or no, she has been caught being sort of...nice?

Griz - results are in

She's about 5.

She's fixed. And IS indeed a she.

She was chipped at some point.

She needs to have a couple of teefs out, which may help with the standoffishness.

When properly medicine-addled post-doctor visit, she can be quite sweet and loving.

Cat therapist believes she can and will be re-acclimatized to people, because she will look at other stuff (like laser pens) and not just stare into nearby humans' eyes, as a feral cat will (waiting for their human overlords to betray a moment's letting down of guard, allowing WolfCat to STRIKE!).

It will be at least ten years now before the new owners can get a couple of sweet kittens that are, y'know, nice.

Still, yay for Griz!

Griz a la hotel dieu

Readers of this organ have been stopping me in the streets to ask about Griz, the Chicago street cat with the heart of tungsten, and whether she is okay.

Just this morning, Old Grizelda has gone to the doctor to see if she is fixed, chipped, how old, even capable of being brought back from the cusp of near-feralness...we should know all soon!

Pray, if that's your bag.

Cat scratch feverrr

Uh oh! New owners both has a scrap with Griz. Let her be, won't you? Probably tried to withhold some 'nip!
