Really?

From Pitchfork thingy on new Mazzy Star song:

The single was recorded in California, London and Norway...

"This isn't the right vibe yet...let's get some ambient fjord noise and mix it in at -4db..."

Shakespeare 2 - Trees

Here are trees backstage at just showtime:

1:45 later, as a faerie ring closes and the fog machine goes berserk:

Quick, someone throw on a Clientele record!

Let's Get Lost

Speaking of the 80's, that Bruce Weber biopic of Chet Baker is on youtube, so you can stop the ceaseless daily refreshing and refreshing of your browser to see if it's ever going to come out on anything other than non-Region 2 DVD format only - you can cause a repeat-stress injury that way.

If I were a teacher

I would make all the students listen to the fantastically weird new Clientele track "The Green Man," while looking at this:

Also, I mean, like, doctoral level teacher, not second grade. Plus: A's for everyone!

Well played, Andy Spade

Speaking of pretension, your humbler chronicler loves dada-esque gestures. Had you noticed? So, and as I type I realize I will be hitting new heights of twee dilettantism (yet type I must!), I was reading a book about Richard Prince and featured therein was an interview with Andy "Mr Kate" Spade, who is apparently a Richard Prince champion. ANYway, in the course of this, the subject turns to counterfeit Kate/Jack Spade stuff and the idea is posited of going down to Chinatown and buying a bunch of Kate Spade knockoffs and selling them in actual Kate Spade stores on a special table marked "AUTHENTICATED Fake Kate Spade."

Head explodes!

Midriff-y

Every damn time I see this Matisse painting called "The Italian Woman" (saw it for the first time ever in an issue of Time at the doctor's office yesterday), I think for a second that she is wearing a midriff bearing shirt!

It's EXHAUSTING! (?)

Blasphemy

Had a chance to actually hear Glenn Beck on the radio yesterday; all I'd ever seen was snippets of his TV show. The two segments I heard on the radio both had these gratuitous long pauses as he basically adjured simple folk to bury food or something. Pretty amazing. Then commercials for buying gold. As "insurance." But, Glenn - if things get that bad, hadn't we best be storing cans of scrapple or whatever? When peeps are starving and all we got [sic] is our guns, gold won't be worth nothin' neither!

Then I saw this, and I understood the fear that so riles up the cretinous:

Apparently, nothing is sacred. Stockpiling lemon Perrier and bagels in advance of the Decline!

(I know the mighty Chip Kidd is involved, but still)
