Three things I'm tired of seeing/hearing

His band members probably all learned a lot from him.  Ugh.
1. "pre-fall"

2. "I really learned a lot from those guys," as said by musicians

3. "I forget the third one, because I stood up to put someone's business card on my bulletin board while I was typing this post," as said by me.  If I think of it, I will post it.

The Pitchfork/Slint Principle

This principle confirms the absolute certainty that Pitchfork would give the Slint reissue a 10.0.

Are there limits to what I can do?

This has nothing to do with the mixes mentioned - just
a reminder to listen to Beauty Stab now if you had been meaning
to, because Technique Month starts tomorrow.
Now making weekly mixes for people...I cannot be stopped!

At last!

I finally got off my ass and looked up what NPR's Eleanor Beardsley looks like, because from her voice I rather assumed something like this:

But no!

She actually looks like this:

Amazing!

Climax!

Sure, you're thinking about Veblen all the time.  But how does Theory of the Leisure Class end?

Here:

The advantage of accredited locutions lies in the reputability; they are reputable because they are cumbrous and out of date, and therefore argue waste of time and exemption from the use and the need of direct and forcible speech.

Theft!

Someone who would drive the truck on occasion, but who is not me, left the driver's side unlocked on accident and sure enough someone took my little folder case of burnt CD's.  I'm actually fine with this, though, because a) so what? and b) I'm amused at the prospect of the wily thief getting home with his/her booty and opening up the case.  "What the fuck is the Clientele?" they moan, then being even more saddened as they flip through copious Suede, Pet Shop Boys and other timeless detritus.  Maybe they will enjoy the Baroness, though, or Return of the Super-Ape or In It for the Money.
Let's hope so!

MyStErIoUs DoInGs

This house, across from our handiest Walgreens, appears and disappears as in Brigadoon.  At least I think that's what is happening: I'd never noticed it, all mossy and Middle Earth-ish yet suburban-looking, until a few months ago, but then sometimes I don't see it at all.  So it stands up to intensive reasoning skills that it's not always there, amirite?

Also: amitrite? (as I misstyped the above at first) would make a good commenter name for Gawker or wherever.  You can have it!

Just like Prince,

Doonesbury stopped being good around 1988 or so.

Science can reveal that it was when they went all "multi-camera" instead of trad "same four panels" format:

5K

I didn't even notice, but last week sometime this here blog had its 5000th post.

I haven't made any money, but I'm a household word. Obviously. So I guess that's good.

Also, 1500th post for the year.  Good grief.

Off every Friday until Dec 21

You knew this, right?  I have a few pre-baked posts for Fridays, and will update from the world at large if anything super-happening happens.  Like McRib appearing or some shit.

Whoa

Some nose-twisters, yesterday
All the flowers in the top two (of four) flower boxes affixed to the front of the house are dead!  The bottom ones thrive.  Both are watered at the same time, the same amount.

Anyway, gonna plant some fallish stuff in the dead ones.  Chrysanthemums, etc.

In researching this astounding post, I learned that "nasturtium" is Latin for "nose twister!"

THANKS, ME!

Then I probably won't have time for my blog, probably

Most people, like yimmy yayo and that Unabashedly Prep guy and Selvedge Yard guy - they get "successful" with their blogs and get hired to do "freelance styling" or some shit and they let their blogs slide.

I don't intend to do that once I'm at the Ba-ba-ba-zaar, but if I do, I will expect YOU to take up the slack.

I will help, though: suppose you and your friends are going to grill Saturday night and eat yourselves into comas.  Here's a "Meat Guy" pic (from a 1957 Golden Book called Questions and Answers that belonged to my brothers and that I just "happen" to have sitting here):

Always ahead of the curve

Let's ignore the questionable taste/relative tastelessness of the blog's recurring D_____ feature wherein photos of noteworthy and/or interesting local mug shots are posted for your lulz.  Yes, let's.

I was first out of the box with God Girl the other day, natch.  Now it's on Drudge, Smoking Gun, CNN, etc.

But seriously, I was on the case with this shit in 2009!:

Yes, it does get very lonely.

Attention Ohio NPR listeners:

Bill Cohen, the craggy-voiced guy who does the Ohio News Bureau report at 5:05 every day, sort of/almost? You wonder what he looks like. Well, as I am thorough in satiating my readers' needs (meet me behind the bicycle shed), I thought I'd better find out for you wonderful souls. Did NOT expect this sort of "Tom Robbins Gone Even More to Seed" look:

This was the scene

where the Bride cracked and yelled "J___S F__K! Do something about your HAIR!" at Gossip Girl's Dan Humphrey character.

I hope you all appreciate this post, I had to pause the laptop and go all the way to the kitchen island to get the camera to take the picture.
