Runaways

Was listening to a friend tell a story of her misspent youth and I wondered: whatever happened to runaways?  This was the scourge of the late 70's and early 80's for you young folks.  I mean, kids still leave home to go get used up in California and all sorts of awful stuff still happens, but the term "runaways" has sort of just gone away.
