Menace

I made my standard fatal error when reading something that I feel sux - I went and read the one-star reviews on Amazon, saw that there were other folks like me who could TAKE NO MORE, and duly closed the cover on The Goldfinch after 206 pages, putting it back on the shelf.  I do not care and I could take no more awkward verbiage and time-wonky references to things that weren't around in 1999, such as iPods (unless she's trying a subtle tribute to Derek Jarman's Caravaggio).  WHATEVER.  Life is too short.
