A 2001 theory

van decal for a small sum.  Probably.

Do other people think that the same universal force or whatever that is behind the monolith - do they think that it caused HAL to go nuts so the "mission [which was] too important" to be compromised (making Dave Bowman into the Starchild or whatever) could be completed?  Well, do they?  And if so, 1. WHEN WILL THEY SPEAK UP? (I never read anyone saying this) and 2.) can they fix the alarming syntax in this post?
