Here's a memo to the guys who came up with Field Notes or anyone else on the periphery of Americana/Wes Anderson/faux-retro industriousness: make a metal box.  Like one's grandpa had.  Put a compass in the bottom on the inside to make it twee or whatever.  DO IT.  I need one for seeds, and since I started typing this post I found what I needed on Etsy for 10 bucks, but this is still a great AMERICAN idea, so, yes, DO IT.
