Okay, so teens cutting themselves goes all the way back to the Nine Inch Nails ep with "Head Like a Hole" on it, probably, and possibly longer than that, but I just remembered this morning how stoner kids in junior high (or "burnouts," as they were sometimes called) used to erase their skin and leave sort of blank burn spots in their arms and such.
