What's the deal with "Diane Young"?

Everywhere (well, two places) I see raves for Vampire Weekend's song "Diane Young" and I don't get it.  Unless sounding like Billy Joel at his most blustery and unsophisticated is hot?  Maybe; I mean, deck shoes are still back.
