Even new bands are forty years old plus

sigh

Was reading (ish) a little blob about the fairly gross Queens of the Stone Age and realized that even their second (I think) "notice us!" LP Rated R came out thirteen years ago.  I still think of them as a "newish" band!  Then I got to thinking, what was the last band I really lost it over and still care about?  The Clientele, maybe? Showed up in my life in 2000 or 2001.  The Ark, when good?  That was seven years ago.  Who else?  Shit, even that first Darkness record was a decade ago.  But what am I supposed to do, like, I dunno, Washed Out?

Part of this is down to age: were I younger I just may give a shit about some EDM wunderkind or something. But still am shocked in that Morrissey (another old!) way: "I should still be buying ten singles a week!" indignation way at just how little there is to care about.
