He was going through a rough time when this was taken. It was a few months before we met. This haircut is the forerunner to what grew to be the "This Boy" bowlcut, named for the Hard Day's Night scene where "sad" Ringo walks a long a riverbank. I was like "That clown with the Carman Ghia? What's his story?"
If I had only had this pic to go buy I would have guessed his story was: he was a 1970's Chicago detective. "Call me crazy, Pete, but I think it's that Gacy guy...he's the one!"
