The "Red Plenty" Mystery

Reading an excellent book about Russia called Red Plenty.  It's sort of...I dunno, it's hard to describe.  Character essays of people in the Soviet around the post-Sputnik era and how they thought?  The writing is fantastic, sort of a friendlier Delillo with lots of scrupulous detail, but not oppressive.  Wait, what?  Anyway, I like it.

I got it from Alibis, natch, in Faber paperback, so I think it just now came out over here.

Why I'm bothering with all this is that, as I flipped through the rest of the unread portion last night, my eye caught a little green slip of paper, which I flipped back to and found it to be this:

Pretty close to actual size, if that helps
What the hell is that?
Some sort of voucher, maybe? But who still puts Stalin on shit?

I'm just worried now that it's all some sort of ornate boondoggle set up by whatever replaced the KBG and I am destined to be "removed" by Putin's thugs - or, worse, the Bride's!

This book intrigues me. Lord knows I don't know Russian folks any better after having been in their midst for a few weeks.
