We watched the documentary about the Shut Up, Little Man "phenomenon" and it was pretty bad. Turned out to be about the guys who made the tapes, mostly, which would be okay, but it was more about the struggles they had with getting movie deals and making money off it, etc, than about Raymond and Peter at all. No word on how R&P died or anything, but lots of footage of nebbishes in basements full of "prank call" cassettes. Then said nebbishes seeing video of Peter's withering visage and realizing - "hey, these guys were people." Christ.
"But what about the internet?" you wail - thorough to the end as you are, dear reader. Well, the advent of the internet and its capacity for giving everyone their own little niche-y cubbyhole in which to do what they like, was likely a great precipitating factor in the decline of the early-mid 90's "art form" of taking shit like prank calls and Brady Bunch episodes and making stage plays of them.
So, all accidental 'net-caused armageddons to come aside, thank YOU, internet!
