I was at the local art museum a bit back...before the baby came? Must have been. Anyway, looking through their book offerings I thought I would buy one of those art museum-y "Art Since 1945" compendiums, just to see who had fallen in and out of favor in art-book approval standings in the years since I used to buy these sort of things on family trips to Philadelphia or Toledo or Montreal. Was George Segal passe? Were Mel Ramos's "naked cheesecake girl on a rhino" paintings deemed blasphemous in the post-PC world? Blah, blah, blah...
Well, knock me over with a feather, but time has indeed made Yoko Ono (she was married to Brian Jones's brother or something) a true artiste. Which we knew: she was art-world famous before she got famous famous. But was surprised to see she was deemed important!
Good for her!
