Okay - why are pitchers, who should understand pitching, always such shitty hitters?
I mean, at some point, in high school, they must have been able to hit, on the off days when they were in right field? Or in college/minors?
Yes, I know that they spend all their valuable time practicing their knuckleballs, but, were I a manager, I would enforce a rule that all pitchers have to take an extra, I dunno, two hours a week batting practice. So instead of the whiff/guaranteed out that we're used to, my pitchers just may hit a single into the corner or a standup double.
Nothing is a waste of time if you use the experience wisely.
