Two (2) things 2 do this weekend

I was reading Radical Chic and Mau-Mauing the Flak Catchers by Tom (eww!) Wolfe last night because I was stuck on the three other books I had going and this was just sitting there. The Bride had groaned through it in a tub session and pronounced it "terrible," but maybe that was because Ryan Seacrest is her generation's Peter Duchin and all the 60s pretension was just too annoying to her. Anyway, I was happy to stumble on this French phrase: nostalgie de la boue, or en anglais, nostalgia for the mud. This is the romanticizing of terrible times, or the clinging to of a societal trait from bad times, like, let's see - maybe an Irish family that insists on talking up potatoes or a sort-of luddite clinging to the old black-and-white TV because that's just the way it's always been.

So that's thing 1: go around annoying people by tut-tutting that "_____ is mere nostalgia de la boue." Try it at CVS on somebody.

Thing to do 2: consult 2:18 - 2:52 in this video:
