John McCain's selection of some lady from Canada or something for veep reminds me one of my fave movies evah, Being There. Peter Sellers, a simple man who has never been out of the house where we was raised by the Old Man (he may be the old man's bastard son?), through a series of missteps, ends up in the position to be nominated for President. His main asset is he's completely unknown and so can't be put it a position where someone has something on him. This is a comment about power that blah blah blah --
Sellers is great, but really awesome is Melvyn Douglas in his final role as a wealthy kingmaker who sees exactly what he wants to in the halfwit Sellers. Douglas was sick when shooting, which makes it all the more sad. Funny, yet sad. Hap-sad.
