Strays!

I drive by a house in a gone-to-seed part of our lovely downtown several times a week (well, I make a point of it, actually) where someone puts food and water out for the stray cats in the vicinity and it is both the best and worst thing ever.

Best because there will sometimes be 15 cats of various sizes, colors, shapes, and ages all just sitting around, some sleeping, some watching traffic...I KNOW some of them, by now, such as Blinkie, Skylab, Wenceslas [names mine]. Saturday there were three kittens on each step up to the place, one orange, one grey and one black (these were Trent, Chavez and Miles)!

Point is, I bought one of those 89 cent booklets at the checkout at the grocery called Why Does Your Cat Sulk? (not that the cats in my life sulk, heaven forfend, but it had all sorts of other goofy/salient cat pointers such as "Taking Your Cat's Zodiac Temperature!"[made that up, yes]) and therein came the worst part: street cats rarely live to be beyond 3 or 4 and have a terrible time of it while they are around. It's not all fish-bones in a trashcan like an old Warner Bros. cartoon.

I suppose the crux is: WHY are you still reading this? Go get a kitten, get it fixed and give it a home, for mewin' out loud!
