It's August, people are starting to tire of the heat, saw on the news that "two-a-days" are starting, so we can all await the inevitable small-town heat-induced coronary of a teenage tight-end and obligatory "how to beat the heat" local TV news schmaltz...This time of year = bad Stones!
I'm talking about Sucking in the Seventies-style bad Stones! Live versions of "Shattered" and "When the Whip Comes Down!" Crappy b-sides like "Everything's Turning to Gold!" My personal fave, "Dance, Part 2": "Get up/get out/into something new..."
As the sainted Lester Bangs had it: "Another greatest hits? Only they're terrible this time?" [paraphrase, don't have the book with me...]
Seriously, take the boombox out in the heat, indifferently shoot hoops and listen to this. You won't be glad you did!
